It all started as a kid watching the “Speed Racer” cartoon.
My first car was a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. I got hooked on Pontiacs from watching “Smokey and the Bandit” movies. I had at least 6 Trans-Ams over the years. But it really all started for me when I met Jim D'Alessandro at Quarter Mile Performance in 1991. I started working on Buick Grand Nationals and going to the track to watch Jim race them. His was the first Grand National to run 13’s, 12’s, 11’s, 9’s and 7’s. I learned and paid attention to everything. I learned about Drag Racing in general, turbo charging, and how fuel injection worked. As the years went by, now 1998-99, I noticed a shift to import racing becoming popular. I wanted to learn what it was all about, so I got my first Honda a 1988 CRX Si. I turboed it, gutted it and I ran 11.58 @ 126MPH in October of 2000. I WAS HOOKED! I started a business in my garage in Pine Hill, NJ in 2001. I opened my first Honda Performance shop, “Sparks Performance Automotive” in Glendora, NJ in 2002. Then a shop in Turnersville, NJ in 2003-2004. My last shop was in Lindenwold. I went to work for Turnersville Honda in 2005 and am presently a B tech for 15+ years.
